The New Balance 1080 V14 Running Shoes feature a Fresh Foam X midsole - which is tuned to feel very soft and plush. However, high midsole sidewalls help make the cushioning also feel stable and supportive.
The outsole section of the forefoot is tuned to be stiffer. While this doesn't compromise the forgiving underfoot ride, it improves the responsiveness at toe-off - hopefully making it easier to maintain your pace.
