Asics Superblast 3 - Race-Grade Foam in a Plateless Daily Running Shoe

The Superblast 3 brings FF LEAP foam — the same lightweight, energetic material used in the METASPEED racing series — into an everyday training platform. With a towering 46.5mm heel and 38.5mm forefoot stack, this is maximum cushioning engineered for energy return, not just protection.

The midsole uses a dual-layer construction: FF LEAP foam on top paired with FF BLAST PLUS beneath. FF LEAP is Asics' lightest and bounciest material — 33% lighter and 13% more responsive than FF BLAST — delivering a soft yet energetic ride that rewards faster paces. The firmer FF BLAST PLUS base layer provides stability and structure, keeping the towering stack controlled underfoot. At 239g for men's and 207g for women's, the Superblast 3 weighs roughly 10g less than its predecessor despite the increased stack height.

The outsole features trampoline-inspired pod shapes strategically designed to enhance energy return during toe-off. This geometry works with the FF LEAP foam to create forward momentum, particularly noticeable during tempo efforts and progressive long runs. ASICSGrip rubber provides reliable traction on road surfaces, whilst the design promotes smooth heel-to-toe transitions across varied training paces.
